1. Interact with the Dashboard View
Dashboards include interactive charts, tables, and visuals. You can filter and refine data to focus on key details. To make the most from your dashboard, you can:
- Click the zoom icon to zoom into the chart or table.
- Use the time slider to adjust the time periods on the dashboard.
- Use the Selector to adjust brands, categories, etc., or apply filters to the dashboard charts or tables.
- Use the Global Filter menu to apply filters.
a. Zoom Icon
Click the magnifying glass icon at the top right of the chart or table to zoom into the view. To return to the dashboard page, click the magnifying glass again.
- Click the magnifying glass icon to expand the chart
- Click the icon again to minimize
b. Time Slider
Just like in a story view, the time slider is available on a dashboard view. You can interact with the time slider directly on the dashboard. You can also interact with the time slider when you zoom the view.
- Drag the time slider directly on the dashboard page
- Zoom the view and the time slider is also available
- After minimizing the zoomed view, the selected time periods remain in place
c. Change Items or Filters using the Selector
When shared items or filters are setup on your dashboard page, the Selector provides access across all the charts or tables. The Selector presents all the shared items, e.g., brands, categories, etc., or filter options and also lets you choose whether you add or replace the items. Once the selections are made and applied, all charts on the dashboard adjust at once, unless the chart view is zoomed.
Dashboard View
When you access the Selector on a dashboard, you will see the Apply/Discard option automatically available. Select the options you require and click the Apply button to process your selections. If you change your mind you can discard the options.
In the following example, this dashboard allows you to select the type of coffee to display in each chart as well as filter options.
- Select the required Coffee Types and click Apply
- Select the required filters and click Apply
If you prefer that the filter options are automatically applied by default without needing to click Apply, contact support@infotools.com.

Zoomed View
When you zoom into an individual chart on a dashboard (zoom must be enabled in the dashboard setup), you can apply a filter or select an item in isolation from the rest of the dashboard. After zooming the view, you can make selections for an analysis view by using the Selector.
- The selections apply to a specific view.
- The selections remain applied when you minimize the view.
- The selections reset when you use the dashboard selector to override the filter, change to another dashboard page, refresh or start a new session.
In the example below, the dashboard has two filters, Age Grouped and Main Reason for Visit-NZ.
- A shared filter is added using the main dashboard selector (35-44 Years) and applies to all three charts.
- One chart is zoomed and the same filter is changed to 55-64 Years.
- A different shared filter is then applied to all three charts - Main Reason for Visit-Holiday.
- This filter applies to all three charts but the Age Grouped filter remains different because they are separate filters.
- To set the same Age Grouped filter element again, use the dashboard selector and select an age group. Using the dashboard selector will apply the same filter element across all charts.
- Apply a filter element to the whole dashboard: 35-44 Years
- Apply a different filter element for a zoomed view: 55-64 Years
- Use the dashboard selector again to add a second filter: Holiday
- The filter element 55-64 Years applied to the zoomed view is retained, while Holiday applies to all
Selector in a Zoomed View
When you zoom a dashboard chart, you may not automatically see the Apply/Discard options in the Selector. With the chart expanded, the Auto Run feature controls the Selector options. If Auto Run is on, you will not see Apply/Discard. Toggle Auto Run off to display Apply/Discard. Auto Run remains off unless you switch it on, refresh the screen or end your session.
- Zoom into the chart
- With Auto Run on there is no Apply/Discard option
- Switch Auto Run off to see Apply/Discard

d. Change Filters using Global Filters
Global filters are a unique and powerful way to change overall data displays in Harmoni. They are a top-level filter option that can be applied at the project, view, story, or dashboard level.
When a global filter is active, views are filtered to show only the data applicable to that filter. This filtering occurs on the fly and will be seen in projects, analyses, stories, and dashboard displays.
- Open the Global Filter menu
- Select the required filter option
- All charts are filtered at once
