1. Visualize Menu
Once you've created your analysis table, click Visualize and Harmoni creates the chart based on your selected data. From the Visualize menu, you can make adjustments to the graph. The following sections explain the general chart features available across most graph types.
To learn more about the specific features of different graph types, see the list of graph types in section 3 of this article.
a. Change the Graph Type
After creating the initial chart, you can change to a different chart type by selecting the chart you want from the options in the visualize menu.
- Create an analysis table
- Click Visualize
- From the Visualize menu, select alternative chart types
b. Revert Back to a Table
When you have created a chart and then want to go back to the table, you can click the table icon in the Visualize menu to return the chart back to a table. Any changes you have made to the chart, for example, removing an element, are maintained in the table.
- Create an analysis table
- Click Visualize
- Modify the chart via the interactive title and Selector
- Click the Table icon to revert to a table
- The table retains any changes
c. Adjust Scales on a Graph
You can choose to have your charts display automatic scales, i.e., let Harmoni pick the best for the data presented, or you can apply logical maximum and/or minimum settings for the graph to adhere to. When you save the chart to a story, these settings are saved in the view.
If the data changes and the scale is fixed, there is a chance that the new data could fall outside the range. Try to ensure this range is always practical to any possible data updates or use an automatic setting to cater for the variance.
To set the scale:
- Select the chart type you require
- Click the drop-down arrow by the chart icon
- Unlock the auto-scale by clicking the padlock
- Enter the maximum and/or minimum scale points
- Press Enter
Keep in mind:
- When no Max or Min is set, the graph scale is automatic
- You can set one scale, for example, Max=100%, and Min remains automatic
- When both Max and Min are set, the chart scales are fixed to these ranges
- Select the chart type
- Open the chart drop-down menu
- Click the padlock to unlock the auto-scale
- Type the value and click Enter
d. Chart only Selected Items from Tables
Harmoni allows you to chart only the items you want to visualize. By selecting the rows and/or columns you need from a table and clicking on visualize, the resulting chart only contains your selections.
- Create an analysis table
- Select the items you want to chart
- Click Visualize
e. Concatenated Labels
When you have a nested analysis, Harmoni displays the labels from both levels of the nest to ensure the chart is clearly labeled.
In the example below, the across axes are nested; Top 5 Markets over Travel Style (Grouped). Australia is selected and visualized. You can see in the chart that the horizonal axis includes both labels.
- Create a nested analysis table
- Select Australia and click Visualize
- The x-axis includes both nested labels
f. Hover Tooltips
When you create a chart and turn off the data labels, you can hover over the plotted items to display an informative tooltip. The tooltip is available when you visualize the chart, access a story view, and can also be seen in a dashboard chart.
- With data labels on display, no hover pop-ups appear
- Open the modify menu
- Hide the data labels
- Hover pop-up labels are available in the chart and on the dashboard
2. Interactive Title
After visualizing, you still have access to the interactive title. Click the labels to access the Selector and make changes to your chart.
a. Display Totals
When you create a table in Harmoni, Totals will automatically be calculated and displayed. When you chose to visualize the data as a graph, the Total will be hidden from the view, but still remains available for inclusion via the Selector.
- The totals are removed when visualizing
- Use the interactive title to access the Selector
- Select the required Total to display in the chart
You can also access the modify menu and switch the totals on using the Totals ON option.

b. Show or Hide Items
Use the Selector to hide or show items in a chart.
- Click an item in the interactive title
- From the Selector, use the tick boxes to control which items to include in the chart
- You can also switch to other axes that have been dragged into the analysis. Items that have been added into the analysis and then changed are retained in the Selector until you use Replace, or reset or clear the analysis.
- Click the interactive title in the chart
- Make your selections from the Selector
