In Harmoni, creating a graph is as simple as clicking on Visualize in the menu bar.
Harmoni automatically offers the best graph type based on the data you are investigating. Graphs can be customized through the Visualize and Modify menus.
When creating visualizations, it can quickly get cluttered when the number of plotted items (down) or the metrics they are plotted against (across) is high. Harmoni offers display smarts, positioning as many labels as possible without causing overlaps that would become unreadable.
Screen resolutions, size of charts (in dashboards), and the number of data points are factored in as the smarts are applied.

1. Interacting with your Graph
Once you've created your analysis table, click visualize and Harmoni creates the chart based on your selected data. From the visualize menu, you are then able to adjust the graph if required.
In the following sections, you'll learn about the general chart features available across most graph types. To learn more about the specific features of different graph types, see the list of graph types in section 3 of this article.
a. Change Graph Type
You can change to a different chart type by selecting the chart you want from the options under the visualize menu.
b. Revert Back to a Table
Click the table icon to return the chart back to a table. Any changes you have made to the chart, for example, removing an element, will be maintained in the table.
c. Adjust Scales on a Graph
You can choose to have your charts display automatic scales (let the system pick the best for the data presented) or to apply a logical maximum or minimum settings for the graph to adhere to.
If the data changes and the scale is fixed, there is a chance that the new data could fall outside the range. Try to ensure this range is always practical to any possible data updates or use an automatic setting to cater for the variance.
Scales for each graph type can be manually set and saved with the view. To set the scale, after selecting the chart, click drop-down arrow by the graph type, then unlock the auto-scale and set the maximum and/or minimum scale point.
- When no Max or Min is set, the graph scale is automatic
- You can set one scale, for example, Max=100%, and Min remains automatic
- When both Max and Min are set, the chart scales are fixed to these ranges
d. Chart only Selected Items from Tables
Harmoni allows you to chart only the items you want to visualize. By selecting the rows and/or columns you need from a table and clicking on visualize, the resulting chart only contains your selections.
e. Concatenated Labels
When you have a nested analysis, Harmoni ensures clarity when you visualize the data, displaying the labels from both levels of the nest.
In the example below, the across axes are nested; Top 5 Markets over Travel Style (Grouped). Australia is selected and visualized. You can see in the chart that the horizonal axis includes both labels.
f. Hover Tooltips
When you create a chart and turn off the data labels, you can hover over the plotted items to display an informative tooltip. The tooltip is available when you visualize the chart, access a story view, and can also be seen in a dashboard chart.
2. Interactive Title
After visualizing, you still have access to the interactive title. Click the labels to access the Selector and make changes to your chart.
a. Display Totals
When you create a table in Harmoni, Totals will automatically be calculated and displayed. When you chose to visualize the data as a graph, the Total will be hidden from the view, but still remains available for inclusion via the Selector.
You can also access the modify menu and switch the totals on using the Totals ON option.

b. Show or Hide Items
You can use the Selector to hide or show items in a chart.
- Click an item in the interactive title
- From the Selector, use the tick boxes to control which items to include in the chart
- You can also switch to other axes that have been dragged into the analysis. Items that have been added into the analysis and then changed are retained in the Selector until you use Replace, or reset or clear the analysis.
