Collaboration is the key to success. Harmoni Explorers and non-owner Creators can work with other selected team members to share and edit their constructions. This feature ensures that users can easily review and finalize definitions together.

1. Share/Transfer Constructions Overview
As an Explorer or non-owning Creator, you can create new items that are private. You can then share the item with others or transfer ownership, making it easier for you and your team to collaborate.

a. Create and Share a New Construction
Items you create as a non-project owner show a My UCA icon next to them. When you select the personal UCA and click Share/Transfer UCA from the action pane at the bottom left, the share and transfer screen opens, which allows you to select the users you want to share with.
The steps to share a construction are simple.
- Create and select a construction, e.g., an axis.
- Click Share/Transfer UCA from the action pane at the bottom left.
- The Share/Transfer screen opens and the UCA name displays at the top of the Share panel.
- From the Eligible Users list, click and drag the user(s) to the Users with access section. You can click all the users you need and then drag them.
- Click SAVE.
- The label Shared appears at the end of the label.
- Select your item and click Share/Transfer UCA
- Drag the users into the Users with access drop-box
- Click SAVE to share
- Click the X to close the Share pane
- Shared items are marked with a shared label
Share a Heading
When a user creates their own heading and shares a construction from within this new section, the heading is also shared. The heading and the axis display the Shared label.
Use Headings to share more than one UCA to several users at once
To quickly share all UCA items, you can create and share a heading. When you share a heading, all the content under it will be shared as well.
If you need to share UCAs to different users, do not place them under a heading you have created. Place them under public headings (headings created by the Project Owner) or outside of any headings in the project tree. Harmoni cannot share UCAs to different users that have been grouped together under a heading you have created.
Note: New items added under a shared heading remain private unless you choose to share them.
- Select a heading and drag a user to grant access
- Sharing a heading shares all its items
- Adding a new item does not automatically share it
Dependent Items
When you share items that are dependent on other items, these items will also be shared.
For example:
- As in the example above, if you group UCAs under a heading, then share the heading, all the UCAs are shared as they are dependents. If you share only one UCA under the heading, the heading will also be shared, but any other UCAs under the heading will not be shared.
- Only the whole axis can be shared. Elements are dependents of the axis, so you cannot share individual elements. When you click an element and open the Share/Transfer UCA screen you will see a warning that it cannot be shared or transferred.
- If you create a new axis (axis 1) and include any of its elements in another new axis you create (axis 2), both axis 1 and axis 2 will be shared when you share either axis.
Harmoni provides a warning that all dependents will be shared and informs you of the axis name(s).
If you unshare items with dependents, Harmoni will unshare any dependent items. You will also receive a warning of this action.
Delete a Shared Construction
If you create and share a construction and then try to delete the construction, Harmoni lets you know that this will impact other users. Only delete the shared UCA if you are certain others are not using it.
Remove User Access
To stop sharing, click the trash can icon next to the user in the Users with access drop-box to remove their access, then click SAVE.
If you have more than one user in the access list, use the Remove All option at the bottom of the drop box, then click SAVE.
- Select an item you have shared
- Click Share/Transfer UCA
- In the Users with access list, select the trash can icon next to the username
- Click SAVE
b. View a Shared Construction
When the construction owner shares their construction, the recipient sees a shared UCA icon and the name of the owner next to the axis. If the construction is included under a heading the sharer creates, then the heading also includes the owner's name.
In this example, a constructed axis has been shared. You can see the owner's name appears within the recipient's project tree.
The recipient can access the definition of the construction but cannot edit the construction directly. They can use shared constructions in stories.
c. Edit a Shared Construction
You cannot edit a shared construction. You must first make a copy of it. The copied UCA belongs to you and you can make changes.
- Select the construction and click copy from the design menu.
- Select a location in a published part of the project tree.
- Click paste from the design menu.
- Select the item and open the Library/Editor to edit the construction.
Once you have finalized the definition of the construction, you can share it using the Share/Transfer UCA options.
Users cannot paste constructions under shared headings as shared items are read-only. To edit, copy and paste into a published part of the project tree.
- Use the library/editor to review the shared construction
- Open the design menu and with the construction selected, click copy
- Paste into a published part of the project tree
- Edit as required
- Share the updated construction
d. Transfer Ownership
There are two options to transfer ownership of your construction.
- Transfer to User
- Transfer to Owner
These options are available in the Share/Transfer UCA screen. You can drag and drop users to transfer the construction or easily transfer to the project owner at the click of a button.
To learn more about using the Transfer option, please go to the Transfer Constructions article.
2. Sharing Constructions within a Public Axis
The only items that can be created and shared within a public axis are combined items or aggregate functions. Use combine items to create new axes in a grid or new elements in an axis. Aggregate functions are not yet available in Harmoni, but are coming soon.
a. Combined Elements in an Axis
In a public axis, use combine items on elements to create a new net. You can then share the combined element with selected users and they will see the shared element within the public axis. It is accessible in Stories for users who have the element shared with them.
Because this axis belongs to the Project Owner, you cannot transfer this element to the Project Owner. If you need all users to see this element in the Project tree and in Stories, the Project Owner must create this element in the public axis.
In this example, a Top 2 Box combined element is added to the public Likelihood to Recommend axis.
- Explorer 1 creates a Top 2 Box element using combine items within the public axis
- Explorer 1 selects the element and clicks the share/unshare button
- Explorer 2 can see and use the shared element within the public axis
b. Combined Items in a Grid
Within a grid, Creators and Explorers can combine axes and/or elements and share them with other users. The following behaviors apply:
- When you share one combined item in a grid, all combined items in the grid whether axis or element are shared.
- If you have already shared items in the grid, if you add a new combined item, it will automatically be shared as well.
- Although you can transfer combined axes to the project owner, you cannot transfer any combined elements in the grid to the project owner.
- You can transfer more than one combined axis to the project owner by selecting all the combined axes you have created and clicking transfer to owner.
- If a user shares their combined axis in a grid, and the recipient then adds a combined element net to the grid, when the recipient analyzes the grid, they won't see a value for their element net in the shared combined axis. Harmoni can't create the element net in a variable that is owned by another.
- A combined axis and element have been created
- Select an item to share, all combined items in the grid are shared.
- Creating a new combined item automatically shares it.
- Select both the combined axes and click transfer to owner
- When the combined element is selected, the transfer to owner option does not appear.
3. Shared Constructions in Stories
Users who have constructions shared with them can use them in stories. They can also see shared constructions in stories that have been shared with them.
- After the construction is transferred to the Project Owner and before they have accepted it, users can still see the UCA in the project and stories. If needed, the transfer can be withdrawn and will continue to work as a shared construction.
- Once the Project Owner accepts ownership, and before it is published in the project tree, the UCA no longer appears in the project tree or any stories.
- Once the Project Owner publishes the construction, everyone can see and use the construction in the published project tree and any previously created stories.
- Stories with the new construction continue to work even if the Project Owner changes the name of the construction.
