Using filters in your analysis is a simple way to focus on a subset of respondents and capture the most relevant data. Use the filter drop zone to add one or multiple filters and change as you need.
When a date axis is added as a filter, Harmoni defaults to the latest time period including in stories when data updates occur. You'll always see the latest data.

1. Filter Drop Zone
Dragging an item to the filter drop zone applies a filter to the analysis. You can drag one or multiple filters from the project tree to the drop zone. The green pin indicates the number of items being dragged.
Items you can drag into the Filter drop zone
- Headings (with no verbatims or measures)
- Standard, Date or Linked axes
- Constructed or Combined axes
- Classifications
Filter Drag and Drop Options
- If an element is dragged to the filter drop zone, then only this element is available and none of the other elements in the same axis.
- If an axis is dragged to the filter drop zone, by default the first element in the axis becomes the filter for the table, but the other elements are available should you wish to change the filter to another element in the axis.
- Add appends to the previous selection.
- Replace removes the previous selection.
- All items dragged to the filter drop zone remain available for selection until the analysis is cleared or reset.
2. Modify your Filters
Once the filters are included in your analysis, you can adjust them using the features in the Selector.
Add/Replace Switch
With the switch set to Replace, you can add one element from each filter. Switch to Add and you can include multiple elements from each filter.
Search
Use the search option in the Selector to find and select the filters you need.
Deselect All/Select All
Deselect All/Select All is available for each axis in the filter and helps to quickly remove or add items.
- When multiple items are selected in a filter, it's easy to remove them all at once using Deselect All.
- Used in combination with Search, Select All lets you select multiple items at once. Ensure you Deselect All first if you don't need the currently selected items included. When using search, these options only apply to what is returned in the search.
- Deselecting All removes the axis as a filter, but it is retained for use until you clear or reset the analysis.
Clear All
You can use the Clear All option to clear all the filters from your analysis. Although the filters are cleared, they are still available in the Selector and remain so until you clear or reset the analysis. Click No filter added in the interactive title to access the filter options.
Clear All clears all selections in the filter and is not limited to any items specified in the search bar.
