Flagging an axis with a date flag ensures that Harmoni recognizes it as a time axis and behaves accordingly. In an analysis table or a visualization, Harmoni has default settings that make it easier for you to work with time period axes.
In this article:
1. Benefits of Applying a Date Flag
When you flag a standard axis as a Date, Harmoni provides the following benefits:
- The ability to have a rolling reference based on previous x periods.
- Ability to rank by the latest period when it is plotted in the across dimension.
- When dragged as a filter, the last element is applied by default.
2. Apply a Date Flag
Any standard axis can be flagged as a date to create a time axis. While in edit mode, select the axis and from the design menu, under the flags section, click date.
- Select the axis
- Click flag from the design menu

Visualize
When an analysis that includes a time axis in the across is visualized, Harmoni automatically selects a line graph. When the time axis includes more than 13 time periods, the line graph includes a time slider to help you manage large numbers of time periods.
