Sometimes, parts of the design menu are disabled. Learn which actions or features restrict the design menu and how to access the items you need.

1. Restricted Design Menu
There are several reasons why the design menu may be restricted or even disabled. This is temporary and the following situations are why you may not have access to some or all of the items in the design menu.
a. Project edited by another Project Owner
While a project is being edited by another Project Owner, the editing tools from the design menu are temporarily disabled for other Project Owners. Once the other Project Owner has completed their work and the project is no longer in edit mode, you can edit the project.
This doesn't prevent other Project Owners exploring the data, for example, loading the project and running tables and charts.
Hang Tight! This project is currently being updated by another project owner. Some editing tools may be temporarily disabled till complete.
b. Edit Functionality Limited with Global Filters On
When global filters are turned on, the edit functionality in the design menu is limited for all users - Project Owners, Creators and Explorers. Global filters can reduce the availability of variables so it can be necessary to turn global filters off when using the design menu.
As a Project Owner with global filters on, the design menu displays the items under construct. The other sections of the design menu are not available.
As a Creator (non-owner) or Explorer with global filters on, users will also see items available under construct specific to these user types.
c. Design Menu Disabled with Multi-Language Options
When a project is setup with multi-language options, the design menu is only available in the original language the project was designed in and is the language listed first in the language sheet and drop down menu.
Any user who views the project in the other language options cannot see the design menu and cannot add their own constructions.
