When you choose to visualize an analysis, you have the option to change the default color of any given plotted item in a graph to suit your preferences.
This is done using the Change Selected Color options in the modify menu. The selected colors are saved with the analysis if you choose to save the view. This means that when you reload the story view, the colors you have selected will apply. When you share your view or story the selected colors will be visible to other users.

Retain Colors or Return to Default Settings
As you modify your analysis, adding or replacing items, your color setting preferences for the labels you have selected are retained. If you replace the axis with another axis that contains the same labels, e.g. the same brands, any color changes you have made for these labels are retained.
Colors are returned to default settings when you...
- End your session (log out or close browser)
- Clear or reset the analysis
- Load an analysis that already has pre-saved settings, i.e., a Story
If you need to change the default colors to be permanently retained at a site level please contact support@infotools.com.
Color selection is associated with an item label.
If the label changes, the color will revert to the default color.
2. Colors by Label
Colors are associated with specific labels. If you create a graph that includes the same brand with the same label across several axes, for example, in a funnel graph that brings in the same brand across awareness, consideration and conversion, the brand element displays with the same color. If you change the color on one brand label, all labels change to the same color.
Example of the same brand across different axes:
To have different colors for the different attributes, the attributes need to be the elements within a brand axis or a grid. With each attribute as an element, you can set a different color for each element.
Example of the same brand within the same axis:
Remember: the element label controls the color. Same label, same color.
3. Saved Views, Stories and Dashboards
Once you save a view, the selected colors are saved with the analysis.
- When loading a story view, whatever color is saved will be applied and displayed.
- When you navigate back to the project from a story view, the color settings will be applied to the project if you create further analyses.
- If you decide to change the color of any of your items, changes will automatically flow to the relevant story view.
- When you share your view, story or dashboard the selected colors will be visible to other users.
Multiview Dashboard
- On a multi-view dashboard, zooming into one of the views and changing the color of an item only changes the color for that chart. Please note these changes are not sticky and if the screen is refreshed or the session ends, next time you return the the chart it displays the default color.
- If editing the chart in story view, only that particular view is changed.
- When loading a dashboard, whatever color is saved in the views will be applied and displayed.
- When you navigate back to the project, the color settings will be applied to the project if you create further analysis, however, if you change the color in the project it won't automatically change in the saved story view in the dashboard. Dashboard views will always display colors used when saved.
Color Export to PPT
Once you save a view, the selected colors are saved with the analysis. When exporting to PowerPoint, the selected colors are also exported.
