Global filters are a top-level filter option that is applied to the project, view, story, and dashboard. As you setup global filters, there is a lot of flexibility to control what users do and see in the project.
Personalization keys control the different options and this article explains how this works. The Infotools Support team manages the setup of the keys, but understanding how they work is important to get the most out of global filters.

1. Personalization Keys
There are seven personalization keysKeys that can be applied at the user, site (all users), or company (all users) level. that control global filters. These keys control what users see and do when they are using global filters.
- Global Filters Enabled
- Global Filter Upload
- Filtering Axis
- Filtering Element
- Change Filter
- Exception Report
- Global Filter Subset
For a more detailed understanding of the personalization keys, refer to the table below:

2. Examples of Global Filter Settings
Enable change - True
In this example, global filters have been enabled and set up to allow for the user to change filters. The filtering axis is Country of Origin and the filtering element is NZ. When the project loads the global filter option is set to NZ and the user can interact with and change the filters to other countries.
Enable change - False
In the following example, global filters are enabled but the user is not allowed to change filters. The filtering axis is Country of Origin and the filtering element is NZ. When the project loads the global filter option is set to NZ and the user cannot access the global filter menu to change the option. They can only see NZ and they cannot interact with the other filters.
