Supporting documents and videos can enrich your dashboard, providing additional context and information. The embed container allows you to incorporate external content directly into your dashboard, such as documents, videos, or other web content.

1. Embed container
Embed containers let you display videos and documents directly on your dashboard. Before you start, host your file online. You can upload files to ASSETS or another hosting platform (e.g., company websites, Vimeo). To access ASSETS, contact support@infotools.com.
Some common scenarios include:
- Embedding Videos: You can add videos to create a more engaging experience, personalize your presentations, include branding, or share instructional content directly on your dashboard.
- Embedding PDF Documents: Allows users to view reports, manuals, or documents alongside data visualizations without switching platforms.
Get a shareable URL from ASSETS
- Go to ASSETS from the global menu bar
- Upload your file
- Click the link icon, then select COPY LINK
Embed a Video or PDF Document
To embed a document or video, make sure you are in dashboard edit mode:
- From Container type, select the Embed container
- In Content > Source, paste the URL for your source item
- Adjust any container settings you need
- SAVE your changes
The source field must include the site address, file location, and name.
- The URL format as below:
https://ipsoslogin-eu.harmoni.online/Sites/SiteName/itl_data/Resources/FileName - For example, the URL may look like this:
https://ipsoslogin-eu.harmoni.online/Sites/Harmoni%20Academy/itl_data/Resources/Harmoni%20User%20Guide.pdf
The example below shows how to embed a video using a file uploaded to ASSETS. You can follow the same steps to embed documents as well.
- In dashboard edit mode, create an Embed container
- In ASSETS, find the video and click the copy link icon
- Select COPY LINK and return to the dashboard
- Paste the URL into the Source field
- Save to embed the video on the dashboard
Note: You can use other hosting platforms (for example, your company website or Vimeo). On some platforms like Vimeo, you can use the Share option to get the video URL. YouTube is currently not supported for the embed container.
2. General Settings
When you select the Embed container the General settings menu displays the settings available for embed container types.
Container Name and Type
Here, you can name the container and also see which container type is selected. This is useful for when you are editing the dashboard which has many container types.
Control of who can see the containers is possible through personalization keys and naming the container is essential to this process.
- In the settings, you can see the container types you have selected.
- You can rename the container in the Name field
- Remember to save the changes.
Content and Link
You can display content directly into your dashboard or link to it as an external resource. You can use either Content or Link, but not both for the same embed container.
-
Embedding Content: To embed content directly into the dashboard, add a source URL under the Content section. This typically requires uploading your document to a hosting platform first.
- Linking to Content: Use the Link option to create a hyperlink to external content, which opens in a new page when clicked. This is a great alternative to embedding, especially for content that could clutter the dashboard or isn't hosted within Harmoni.
- Use an embedded container, you can interact within the dashboard
- To modify, cut the content URL from the source field
- Select the container and paste the URL under the link
- Once saved, clicking the content opens it in a new tab
Size and Position
Drag and resize the container or use the size and position for precise adjustment
- Width and Height control the size of the container, or for precise placement.
- X (from left) and Y (from top) control the horizontal and vertical placement in the dashboard canvas.
- Select the embedded container, click on Size & Position
- Adjust size and position by entering value using pixels (px)
- Save the changes
Padding
Use Padding options to create extra space around the container's content.
- To create space without shifting the container, use padding
- Enter pixel values for Top, Right, Bottom, and Left
- Save the dashboard
Arrange
Dashboards often have multiple containers. You can arrange how these containers layer over each other with options of Send to Front, Bring Forward, Send Backward, or Send to Back.

Background
The embed container's background color is visible only when there is no Embed URL. If you use the Embed container to link to another dashboard page or other website, changing the background can be useful.
To change the background, use the color picker or enter a Hex value for specific colors. You can also adjust the transparency from 0% (transparent) to 100% (opaque).
